‘Shock to the system’: Gold shares what Porro is doing ‘behind the scenes’ at Tottenham

Alasdair Gold has told his YouTube channel that Tottenham star Pedro Porro is working very hard “behind the scenes” to adapt – and the Spanish ace is already well-liked among the Spurs squad, after his best outing yet on Saturday.

Porro, 23, finally completed a move to the Spurs in January. Having impressed against Spurs in the Champions League in the first half of the season, Fabio Paratici moved. It sees Porro join on loan with an obligation to buy, in the summer.

The Spain star struggled initially. A poor display in his first League start, a 4-1 loss to Leicester. It saw him left on the bench against West Ham and only a late sub against Chelsea. But he has started the last two Premier League games.

With Emerson Royal struggling with a knee injury, he lasted 81 minutes in the 1-0 loss to the Wolves. But then, against Forest on Saturday, he produced his best so far. He got the assist for Tottenham’s first goal, a Harry Kane header.

Gold said: “He’s getting brighter. His first game against Leicester was a shock to the system. He’s worked incredibly hard, on and off the pitch, behind the scenes. Trying to adapt, and take on everything. Very popular in the squad already.”

GOLD SAYS TOTTENHAM STAR PORRO WORKING VERY HARD BEHIND THE SCENES

It has been a hard first few weeks at Spurs for Porro. He came in with Emerson Royal producing the best form of his 18 months at Spurs. It meant he had to remain an unused sub against Manchester City. He obviously needs time to adapt.

But, against Forest, he was excellent. Combining well with Richarlison down the right flank, Renan Lodi struggled to cope with the duo. There is no doubt now that even with Royal fit, Porro will start next time out against Southampton.
