Leicester City ‘focusing’ on striker transfer on one condition

Latest Leicester City news from LeicestershireLive amid transfer links with Lens striker Lois Openda

Leicester City is reportedly ‘focusing’ on Lens striker Lois Openda if they remain in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old has impressed in Ligue 1 this season since arriving from Club Brugge last summer. Openda has scored 15 goals in 31 appearances for the French side this season.

His form for Lens has played a key role in the fight for an unlikely spot in next season’s Champions League. They currently sit two points above Monaco in third which would secure a place in the qualifying stage of Europe’s elite competition next season.

And his performances in France have reportedly attracted interest from the Foxes. Mail Online claim that should Leicester beat the drop this season, they will focus on a move for Openda.

City’s current strikers have struggled for goals during the current campaign. Patson Daka and Kelechi Iheanacho have scored just four league goals each this season while Jamie Vardy just has just one goal to his name.

The Foxes continue their battle to avoid relegation with a clash at home to Wolves on Saturday (kick-off at 3 pm). Dean Smith’s team is two points adrift of safety in the 19th.
