Journalist James Pearce has claimed that Liverpool could try to re-ignite their interest in Duje Caleta-Car in the summer transfer window.
The £8 million (Daily Mail) man admitted in November that he almost signed for Jurgen Klopp’s side in 2021, but a deal broke through.
However, it seems Duje Caleta-Car could well be a transfer priority for Liverpool heading into next season.

The Croatian central defender has not had the best time since joining Southampton, as it is only a matter of time until they get relegated.
However, Caleta-Car has been rated extremely high for a number of years, especially as he was making all the right noises at Marseille.
Now, the Athletic journalist James Pearce has said that as Liverpool plan ahead of the summer transfer window, they could try bringing in Duje Caleta-Car once again.
“The only one I think possibly at Southampton would be Caleta-Car, the Croatian center-back. Liverpool need to bolster that department in the summer and he’s one that Liverpool have looked at in the past”, Pearce said on the Walk On podcast.
“I don’t know if he’s still someone of interest, but the fact they’ve scouted him previously and he was considered, I’d put that as a possibility as well.”

With Liverpool supporters rightly expecting a much-improved next season, the potential transfer incoming of Duje Caleta-Car is likely to worry them about their ambitions as a club.
Some may perceive the move as a sign that the club is simply being frugal and instead of making a statement in the market, they are trying to bring in yet another bargain addition.
As Manchester City and Arsenal pull away as the Premier League’s two most dominant forces, the Kop may sense that their cycle under Jurgen Klopp may well be over if they do not bring bigger names in.
If the Reds do end up signing Caleta-Car, the fanbase is almost guaranteed to be split on his arrival.
