Everton transfer news as Ryan Kent deal on cards with talks set

Everton are one of several Premier League sides in talks to sign Rangers winger Ryan Kent this summer, according to TEAMtalk.

Kent will be available on a free transfer when his contract at Ibrox expires at the end of the season, with the 26-year-old making it clear to the Scottish giants that he won’t sign a new deal.

Sean Dyche’s Everton have emerged as one of the Premier League clubs who are keen to sign the Englishman, with Leeds United, Bournemouth, and recently promoted duo Burnley and Sheffield United also interested.

The former Liverpool winger has been offered a lucrative contract by Turkish giants Fenerbahce, but before putting pen to paper, he is assessing all options that are available to him.

Great option

Everton are desperately short on options in the attacking third right now, and getting Kent on a free transfer would be a brilliant way to alleviate this glaring weakness in the first-team squad.

The winger has long been considered one of the brightest attackers in the Scottish Premiership, racking 28 assists during his time at Ibrox and contributing a goal involvement every 3.5 appearances for the club.

These are the kind of numbers that the Toffees have lacked in recent years, with Alex Iwobi and Dwight McNeil not renowned for their goals and Demarai Gray seemingly out of favour under Dyche.

If Everton are going to stand any chance of signing Kent, maintaining their Premier League status will be necessary though.

If the club do manage to stave off relegation and Farhad Moshiri’s reign on Merseyside is subsequently brought to an end with a fresh takeover from either 777 Partners or MSP Sports Capital, this could be a transfer that could get fans back on side under the new regime.

This is one Everton fans should be excited about, with Kent clearly a Premier League player in waiting.
