Huddersfield Town talented young who crashed stolen Ferrari is back in court for taking another car

Ipswich Ferrari thief Lee Nicholls stole another car

A 35-year-old man who was given a suspended prison sentence last year after he crashed a stolen Ferrari in a residential street in Ipswich has admitted breaching the order by committing an offense of dangerous driving.

Lee Nicholls appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday via a prison video link and admitted taking a Mini Cooper without consent, dangerous driving, and driving without insurance in February this year.

He also admitted being in breach of a two-year prison sentence suspended for two months imposed in December last year for aggravated vehicle taking in relation to a Ferrari, criminal damage to a Mercedes, three offenses of burglary, two offenses of theft, driving without insurance and a driving license, failing to stop after an accident, failing to provide a breath specimen and assaulting a police officer by beating.

At Thursday’s hearing, Juliet Donovan, for Nicholls, said there had been a deterioration in her client’s mental health and he claimed to be hearing voices.

“He is worried what he might do to himself or someone else if he doesn’t receive proper psychiatric help,” said Miss Donovan.

Judge David Pugh agreed to adjourn the sentence on the offenses committed in February this year until August 2 for a psychiatric report.

At Nicholls’ sentencing hearing in December, the court heard that police were called to a crash in Lindbergh Road, which also involved a parked black Range Rover, on April 30 last year.

The Range Rover ended up on its side, while the red sports car suffered severe damage.

On arrival, officers found the driver of the Ferrari had abandoned the vehicle and left.

Following initial police inquiries, Nicholls, of Hawke Road, Ipswich, was located and arrested two hours later.

After attending the hospital for treatment, he was taken to the Martlesham police investigation center for questioning.

The Ferrari had been reported stolen to police about 20 minutes prior to the collision from an address in Nacton, where entry was gained to a secure garage.
