Coventry City’s first summer signing Jay Dasilva says he cannot wait to get going after completing his switch from Bristol City.

The 25-year-old defender has put pen to paper on a four-year contract with the Sky Blues following the expiry of his contract at Bristol City.

He joins having made 38 appearances for the Robins last term in the final year of a five-season stay in the South West.

Dasilva started his career at Chelsea, where he won three FA Youth Cups and two UEFA Youth Leagues. He also helped England to victory in the Under-19s European Championship and the Toulon Tournament.

“I am buzzing to have completed the move and to get it over the line. I am ready to get going and I am excited.

“I have been talking to the manager for a while and I remember playing against Coventry over recent seasons and always being impressed.

“I know a few of the players and I have spoken to them [after games] last season. I almost made the switch in January but that did not happen. It’s been a little bit of a wait but now it’s done.”

On what the Sky Blue Army can expect to see from him over the next four seasons:

“I can play anywhere on the left: at Left-back, left-wing-back, and on the left of midfield. I feel comfortable in all of those positions and that is where you will see me playing at my best.”

His verdict on Coventry, having faced the Sky Blues multiple times over recent seasons:

“I have been really impressed with Coventry, especially with how they bounced back after the way their season started last term. It is amazing how they managed to turn it around.

“I thought that we were desperately unlucky in the [SkyBet Championship Play-Off] Final but it was a great season for the Club.

“Adi Viveash has played a massive part in this transfer. Every time I have played against Coventry I have chatted to Adi and given him a big hug. He has been so important in this move and I can’t wait to get working with him again.

“It’s also really good to see that both Adi and Gaffer have

signed new long-term deals with the Club. That is fantastic.

“They are both great guys and they have been so influential in how the Club has progressed, and it’s only getting better!

“I am delighted to be here and I can’t wait to get going.”
