Swindon Town are delighted to announce the signing of a great defender

DOMINIC THOMPSON BECOMES TOWN’S FIRST 2021 SIGNING

Swindon Town are delighted to announce the signing of defender Dominic Thompson from Brentford on a loan deal until the rest of the season. The deal is subject to EFL and FA approval.

Thompson becomes our first signing of 2021 and will help fill a void in the position of left-back as Ellis Iandolo remains injured and Rob Hunt, who can play in that position is due to serve a three-match ban.

The twenty-year-old began his youth career with Arsenal, as did current loanee Matt Smith, signing a two-year contract with the Gunners as a schoolboy.

Despite not making a competitive senior appearance for Arsenal, Thompson was an unused substitute in their EFL Trophy squad four times and was also chosen as a traveling reserve for their trip to Ukraine against FC Vorskla Poltava in the Europa League.

In August 2019, Brentford signed the youngster for an undisclosed fee, and he made five appearances during the 2019/20 season.

Thompson has featured for the Bees nine times this campaign, most recently keeping a clean sheet in their 1-0 win over Newcastle in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.

Upon signing his deal, Thompson said:

“They’re a good group of boys and all really friendly. There’s a lot of talent in this team.”

“The Gaffer has got in contact with Brentford and this is an opportunity for me to play football and gain valuable experience I want to help the club in the situation we are in at the moment.”

“It’s a good challenge for me, stepping out to gain experience. It’s not like the start of the season, I’m ready and if I’m needed I’m happy to step in.”

We would like to welcome Dom to the County Ground and very much look forward to seeing him in a Swindon shirt for the remainder of the season.

Tomi Adeloye joins on loan from Swindon Town

Partick Thistle FC is pleased to announce the signing of Tomi Adeloye on a season-long loan deal from Swindon Town, subject to international clearance.

The Englishman will be best known to fans of Scottish football for the one season he spent with Ayr United, scoring 14 goals in 38 games including 11 league strikes.

Born in South-East London, Tomi spent time in the youth systems at Charlton and Millwall before signing his first professional deal with Stoke City.

The forward would go on to spend a few years turning out in English non-league football eventually finding consistent playing time during stints with Dagenham and Redbridge, Ebbsfleet Town, and Barnet.

Signed by Ayr in 2021, his form as an Honest Man earned him a move to EFL League Two side Swindon Town though game time has been limited at The County Ground with just one of his 13 league appearances coming from the start.

Thistle manager Kris Doolan said:

“I think Tomi will be a great addition to our frontline. He showed during his time at Ayr that when he gets consistent game time, he’s capable of finding the back of the net regularly.

“That being said, he’ll have to work really hard to get into our team because we have a lot of firepower up front but hopefully that competition drives everyone on. I know myself how it feels when you’re one of a few striking options – you know you have to perform.”

“Tomi is the kind of striker that will make center-halves sweat. He’s strong, he’s clever and he can link up with the players around him brilliantly so I’m excited to work with him.”
