Sky Sports pundit cannot believe what Everton player did in 1-0 loss v Wolves

Sky Sports pundit amazed by Arnaut Danjuma miss for Everton v Wolves

Sue Smith was stunned by Arnaut Danjuma after a clear miss for Everton against Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday (26 August).

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday on 26 August (03:15 pm), the pundit was surprised to see the Dutchman hit the post when he went through one-on-one with Jose Sa, and it proved crucial in the 1-0 defeat.

The 26-year-old made his first start for the Toffees against the Midlands club after joining the Merseysiders from Villarreal on a season-long loan deal on 23 July.

“Danjuma has started really well,” said Smith.

“It’s a brilliant ball through to him, he’s one-on-one with the goalkeeper and has to score. I don’t know if Sa gets a touch on it, but it hits the post and goes out.”

Seeking redemption

The winger is looking for redemption after he controversially snubbed Everton in January when he decided to join Tottenham despite undergoing a medical at Goodison Park.

His time in North London didn’t pan out how the Dutchman had hoped after he scored two goals in 12 appearances – most of which came off the bench during his six-month loan spell at the club.

Following the eye injury suffered by Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the defeat to Aston Villa, the forward will be hoping to provide the goals the Toffees desperately need following a tough start to the season.

The chance in the first half against Wolves provided him with the perfect opportunity to grab his first goal for the club, but he couldn’t beat Sa to open the scoring.

He has, however, looked impressive during the brief glimpses Blues fans have seen of him so far this season, suggesting he could be a big player for Sean Dyche over the next few months.

In other Everton news, a pundit has been involved in an on-air debate with a fan after a bizarre Toffees relegation claim was made.
