£15 million player could soon replace Fabio Silva in the starting XI at Molineux.

Journalist expects £35m Wolves star to be replaced in starting XI

Sasa Kalajdzic of Wolves has had a difficult time since relocating to England.

Sasa Kalajdzic of Wolverhampton Wanderers has not been a definite starter under Gary O’Neil this season, and journalist Dean Jones has informed GIVEMESPORT that he might now replace his teammate.

The big forward has struggled since joining Molineux, but he has suffered some bad luck.

News from Wolverhampton Wanderers – Sasa Kalajdzic

According to the BBC, the 26-year-old joined Wolves for a cost of £15 million last summer from Bundesliga club Stuttgart. Wanderers fans would have expected the Austrian striker to make an early impression, but that was not to be. Kalajdzic suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his debut game for the club, which forced him to miss the rest of the season. According to FBref, the former Stuttgart forward played less than 45 minutes per game during the whole Premier League season.

According to Transfermarkt, Kalajdzic has only played 16 minutes in England’s top flight this season, with manager O’Neil preferring Portuguese number nine Fabio Silva, who signed for a sum of £35 million. After a year away from football, Kalajdzic may be suffering with match fitness, but he has proven in the past that he is more than a quality goalscorer. Kalajdzic scored 22 goals in 51 games in the Bundesliga before moving to England.

After scoring the game-winning goal against Everton, O’Neil was full of praise for Kalajdzic…

“I believe he has worked very hard since I arrived.” He is obviously still on his way to regaining full fitness. He’s not one you can play for 90 minutes a week at the moment, but, as I mentioned, with us arriving in good areas and Hugo… I thought he put in some beautiful crosses.”

Now, journalist Jones has speculated on the possibility of Kalajdzic replacing Silva in the starting lineup in the near future.

What did Jones say about Wolves and Kalajdzic?

Jones has stated that, while young Silva is a talented player, he believes Kalajdzic will be selected ahead of him very soon. Wolves, according to the journalist, will need to take advantage of his strength in the air by bringing attacking players close to him.

In an interview with GIVEMESPORT, he stated:

“I believe Wolves must now ensure that when Kalajdzic is on the pitch, there are other people close enough around him to pick up the pits and pieces that he may knock down.” Fabio Silva is a fantastic player, and I don’t doubt his abilities, but I believe it won’t be long until Kalajdzic is selected ahead of him.”

What comes next for Wolves?

Following the international break, Wolves will face Liverpool, Luton Town, and Manchester City in the Premier League for the remainder of September. The Midlands club presently sits in 15th place in the table, with only one win to their name.

Wanderers fans will be hopeful that O’Neil can keep them out of the relegation zone this season.
