‘Wants to’: Fabrizio Romano provides an intriguing update on Julen Lopetegui following his departure from the Wolves.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has published an interesting update on Julen Lopetegui’s departure from Wolves.

The Spaniard left Molineux just days before the start of the 2023/24 season.

After growing tired of the financial condition, he and the club made an arrangement for him to leave.

Lopetegui evidently thought the club had shifted the goalposts on him in terms of player acquisitions.

He notified sporting director Matt Hobbs that he intended to leave immediately following the pre-season friendly against Celtic.

He remained in place until Wolves found a replacement, who turned out to be Gary O’Neil. And it appears that he consented to a lower reward in order to assist Wolves.

Some Wolves fans have been following Lopetegui’s moves since his departure, and now there is an update from Romano…

Julen Lopetegui is looking for a chance in the Premier League.

Romano provided some information regarding the present scenario with Lopetegui yesterday evening.

The 56-year-old is currently staying in England after leaving Wolves one month ago.

He’s been linked to the Villarreal job recently. He was also rumored to be a target for Lyon following their terrible start in Ligue 10.

But, according to Romano, there’s a good reason Lopetegui is still here.

“Despite Villarreal (Pacheta will be the new head coach) and OL links, Julen Lopetegui wants to wait for a new opportunity in the Premier League,” he stated.

“Lopetegui is currently not interested in Liga or Ligue1 opportunities because he wants to stay in the Premier League following his experience with Wolves.”

It will be painful to see Lopetegui manage another Premier League club.

So Lopetegui is determined to stay in the Premier League.

And he can’t really be faulted for it. It is the world’s top league, with the best players.

Lopetegui’s status is high after keeping Wolves in the Premier League, and he will almost certainly be evaluated by major clubs if a vacancy arises.

There is no prospect of getting a job in the City or Liverpool.

Newcastle might be worth keeping an eye on. Eddie Howe has done excellent work at St. James’ Park, but he has presided over a shaky start. He has credit in the bank, but the pressure is likely to increase soon.

Lopetegui definitely has Champions League experience, and he would undoubtedly like to work with a large budget after his stint at Wolves.
