Nathan Fraser, who has been formally added to the Wolves first team roster, might yet go out on loan in January.

The Tettenhall-born 18-year-old has been rewarded for his outstanding efforts with the under-21s and while training with Gary O’Neil’s senior squad. His efforts also include taking most of his chance in the Carabao Cup against Blackpool at home three weeks ago, when he came off the bench to set up a goal and score another in a 5-0 triumph.

Shrewsbury Town were among the clubs connected with taking Fraser on loan before the September 1 deadline. Wolves, on the other hand, elected to keep Fraser because they needed cover and competition for their senior center forwards Sasa Kalajdzic, Fabio Silva, and Matheus Cunha. Signing another striker in January, on the other hand, may allow Fraser to go on loan.

When asked about the youngster’s future, sporting director Matt Hobbs informed the Wolves Express that he has a few options. “The next step is to get minutes,” he stated. He may get a lot, or he could get very few, and he could be training with the first team and then getting a lot of minutes with the under-21s. Or, he might go in there for a while and they see him but want him to go out and play more men’s football, so he ends up on loan. The path’s appearance is still unknown.

“Max Kilman has shown you how a player can develop into a Premier League player by working hard every day with better players.” Pedro (Neto) arrived and gradually upped his minutes as well. So it’s doable.

“However, he is capable of making two travels. He can begin Max’s journey, but because he is a centre forward and his goals and staying in that sort of form and those good habits are slightly different, it is possible that if he is not getting a lot of minutes, Gaz will decide to send him on loan in January, which is the best thing for him.

“Alternatively, he could come in and become a regular player for him.” So, I believe he may have two distinct trips while navigating his way through.”

Hobbs believes Fraser earned his shot with his performances at the youth level. Last week, he scored in the under-21s’ 2-1 triumph over a senior Notts County side in the first group game of the EFL Trophy.

“I think Nathan is a boy who has always made the absolute most of his ability, dedicated to being a professional footballer and getting the most out of himself,” he continued.

“His next challenge is to earn minutes on the field and cement himself as a member of that squad.” So, a substantial payoff for his efforts thus far. The cliché is that the hard work has begun, but actually, his duty now is to demonstrate that he deserves to play in the first squad.

“He was a scholar, so the last three years were probably important to him.” He is a great professional; he does everything correctly and makes the most of what he has.

“He is now beginning to see the rewards and the goal return, which has gradually increased season by season.” I believe he has accomplished a great deal by spending more time in the box. He has always worked really hard and selflessly for his team, but perhaps a little too much. But now that he is getting more inside the box, it is no surprise that he is a frequent goalscorer.

“Coming on and assisting and scoring against Blackpool was probably the pinnacle of that journey, and it was a real cherry on top.” But now that he has earned his way into Gary’s team, he faces the much greater challenge of becoming a regular Premier League footballer. Nathan, one thing I know for sure, will give it his all.”
