21-year-old Chelsea, who wanted to participate this summer, will not be participating again anytime soon.
According to reports, Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise has suffered a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury.
The Frenchman was making good progress toward a return before this setback, according to The Athletic.
In the final few weeks of the transfer window, Chelsea made signing Olise one of their top priority in a frenetic transfer window.
It was reported that the young star’s contract included a very attainable release clause that allowed clubs to make a move.
The Blues were said to have done this, but it quickly revealed that the player had signed a new contract with the London club and would not be moving this summer.
Olise’s injury is a setback.
It remains to be seen whether this was done to introduce a fresh release clause or because he is sincerely dedicating his future to Selhurst Park.
However, it now appears as though they could have avoided a significant blow, given they are already dealing with a slew of injuries at the club.
According to reports today, the player’s return from injury has been pushed back even more, with him still not appearing this season.
The 21-year-old would have only joined to the increasing treatment list, though there are signs that a few may be ready to return to play shortly.
Moises Caicedo, who missed the previous game due to a knock, is confident of returning for the upcoming Premier League game against Aston Villa, while Benoit Badiashile is nearing full fitness.
