Report: West Ham United are now considered favourites to sign wonderkid with ‘immense potential’ after Arsenal’s proposal was rejected.

West Ham United have joined the competition to sign Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande, with Arsenal now facing a true challenge for the defender.

Arsenal may now face competition from West Ham United for Sporting defender Ousmane Diomande.

According to the Portuguese newspaper Record, interest in Diomande is already increasing.

Although the January transfer window is still a long way off, Premier League clubs will be considering a number of prospective additions.

The Premier League is the largest market in the world, and English clubs will command high prices for their top players, such as Sporting and Diomande.

West Ham United has joined Arsenal in the chase for Ousmane Diomande.

According to reports, Arsenal has already put €35 million (£30.5 million) on the table for Diomande ahead of January.

We can’t picture Arsenal making bids well in advance of January, although the Gunners have long been interested in Diomande.

However, according to the Record, Arsenal have failed with that bid and now face competition from West Ham United.

The Hammers are believed to have scouted Diomande during the Ivory Coast’s match against Lesotho earlier this month.

West Ham then began inquiring about Diomande’s availability, with David Moyes and co seemingly eager to bring him to East London.

Who is Diomande, the Sporting wonderkid?

Diomande was born in the Ivory Coast and signed with FC Midtjylland in 2020.

The 6ft 3in centre back never played for Midtjylland and was loaned out to Portuguese side Mafra for the first half of last season.

Diomande impressed so much that Sporting pounced on him in January, and he has since established himself as a crucial first-team member.

Former Mafra colleague Gui Ferreira praised Diomande’s ‘immense potential’ during his time with Sporting.

Diomande is making rapid progress and might become a Premier League player in the coming months now that he has earned his maiden Ivory Coast cap.
