Sad news as luton star is hit by hamstring injury and forced out

Edwards hopes hamstring issue that took Hatters defender off isn’t too serious Bell substituted during first half of midweek defeat Luton coach Rob Edwards revealed a hamstring ailment forced defender Amari’i Bell out during his side’s 2-1 defeat to Burnley on Tuesday night.

The Jamaican international had been Town’s lone ever-present outfield player this season, appearing in all six Premier League games and also came on in the final minutes of the 1-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Exeter.

However, after 21 minutes against the Clarets, he was left sitting on the Kenilworth Road playing field, unable to continue, with Reece Burke, who has recently suffered with groin troubles, replacing him.
Edwards recently stated that he does not want to ‘break’ Town’s only fit left-sided centre half at the present, since he has played in 18 matches for club and country since Luton defeated Coventry in the play-off final on May 27.

Bell is now a significant doubt for the Spurs’ visit this weekend, as Edwards stated: “He’s just feeling his hamstring, so we’ll have to see how he is.”

“The intensity of all these games is really, really high now and we’ve got to try and control players’ loads.”I know there’s been a lot of commentary in the news about the amount of games and the intensity in the last few days.

“I know we’re not in Europe, so I’m not going to complain about the number of games, but when you play Saturday, Tuesday, and Saturday again, the intensity of the games is high, so your chances of picking up one or two injuries go up a little because the lads are giving everything.”

“They’re on the edge, we push them hard, and then we have to try to control their load during training and competition.”
