To the satisfaction of former Newcastle star Yohan Cabaye, the owners have made sound business decisions. In an interview with the Athletic, he discussed the owners and stated that he spoke with Toon Sporting Director Dan Ashworth at the Champions League draw in August.
Yohan Cabaye is impressed by what Newcastle’s owners are doing.
Cabaye spoke to the Athletic ahead of Newcastle’s match against PSG regarding the Toon owners’ project.
“I had the chance to meet Dan [Ashworth] at the Champions League draw in Monaco. I know they are going the right way. It could have been easy to spend money after money on players that don’t fit the project.
“They are doing well and I’m glad to see that.”
It would have been simple to make blunders in recruitment at Newcastle.
Cabaye believes Newcastle’s owners are doing well and is pleased that they avoided making huge mistakes during the transfer window.
As he points out, it would have been simple for them to spend a lot of money on players who were unfit for the job. They have, however, been considerably more methodical and intentional in their investments, and it is paying off handsomely.
Anthony Gordon, for example, is proving to be a fantastic purchase, while Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier are club talismans.
