Latest Leicester City news as another scouting mission to Portugal is revealed following the summer swoop for Abdul Fatawu

Leicester City are actively looking for players to join Enzo Maresca’s side in the upcoming transfer windows.

This summer, City looked to Portugal for one loan signing, bringing in winger Abdul Fatawu from Sporting CP on a season-long loan. According to a recent scouting mission, they may return to the same country next summer, or even in January.

According to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, a Leicester scout was present on Sunday as Porto beat Portimonense 1-0. Porto are currently third in Liga Portugal, with six wins and one draw from their first eight games of the season. They are bested only by Sporting and Benfica.

On Sunday, giants Porto won the game 1-0, with 24-year-old Brazilian striker Evanilson scoring the winner and being named man of the match. It has been noted that goalkeeper Diogo Costa and centre-back Zé Pedro also put in impressive performances.

Another player of note could have been Englishman Dennis Adeniran, with the 24-year-old ex-Everton midfielder currently plying his trade with Portimonense. City have shown with Stephy Mavididi that bringing English players back to their home country is an avenue they are willing to explore.

Leicester have sent scouts to Porto games a number of times before in recent months and years, perhaps suggesting they have a long-term target they are keeping eyes on. Manager Enzo Maresca is working closely with the existing recruitment staff, which paid dividends over the summer.
