BBC host shares timeline update for new Rangers manager appointment as talks to continue

Jonathan Sutherland provides an update on the timing for the appointment of a new Rangers manager as talks continue.
According to Jonathan Sutherland, the final interviews for the Rangers managerial position would likely go till the end of the week.

On the BBC Sport website on Wednesday (11 October), the Sportscene broadcaster stated that the working week has been set apart to allow for “full attention and consideration” of all contenders.

According to him, Philippe Clement and Yokohama Marinos manager Kevin Muscat are among the contenders being interviewed, with chairman John Bennett and chief executive James Bisgrove leading the discussions.

Understandable

It’s understandable that Rangers executives are taking their time before submitting their final choice to the club’s board.

They want to make certain that the appropriate person is in place to steady the ship and propel the Gers forward after they have essentially regressed over the previous year.

The future Light Blues manager will have to work with – and get a tune out of – the several players brought in by Michael Beale over the summer as he sought to overhaul the squad.

The disadvantage of the lengthy process is that it has now consumed the international break, which would have been an excellent opportunity for the new manager to engage with the players without the pressure of any upcoming matches.

However, it is unlikely that they will have that opportunity until next week, with a decision not expected until the end of the week.
