Rangers boss snub as five-time award winner makes late pitch for Ibrox post

Glasgow Rangers appear to be closing in on a new manager to take over at Ibrox.

Rangers are in the final stages of hiring a new manager, according to TEAMtalk.

While Philippe Clement and Kevin Muscat are the frontrunners for the Rangers job, a new name has emerged.

According to the website Nenad Bjelica has put his name up and wishes to speak with the Rangers’ board of directors.

The 52-year-old appears to be looking for a new job swiftly and has selected the vacant Rangers position as the ideal chance.

According to TEAMtalk, he has been put forward for an opportunity to speak to the Ibrox board.

Bjelica previously managed Trabzonspor in Turkey, however he was fired with the club sixth in the Superlig table.

The Croatian has been a coach since 2007 and has led clubs in a number of different nations.

Bjelica’s most successful job was with Dinamo Zagreb, where he won back-to-back Croatian championships in 2018 and 2019, as well as the Croatian Cup in 2018.

He also won two lower-league titles with WAC St Andra in Austria.

In my opinion

It’s encouraging to learn that Bjelica wants to manage the Rangers.

On the bright side, he has title-winning experience, as well as decent Champions League and Europa League experience.

It remains to be seen whether Bjelica has what it takes to beat Clement or Muscat, both of whom have strong credentials.
