Latest Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive as Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag discusses the race for the top four

Manchester United are “back in the race” with Aston Villa and Tottenham to finish in the top four in the Premier League, says manager Erik ten Hag.

Villa currently lead the race, being in fourth place in the table with 13 matches left to play. Unai Emery’s side are two points above fifth-placed Spurs and five points ahead of Ten Hag’s United, who are in sixth place.

But the Red Devils are in the best form of the three teams right now, with four wins in their last four matches while both Villa and Tottenham have dropped points. United also beat Villa 2-1 at Villa Park earlier this month.

Villa moved back into the top four with victory over Fulham on Saturday as Spurs slipped to a defeat against Wolves. United beat Luton Town 2-1 on Sunday and speaking to Sky Sports, Ten Hag said: “We’re back in the race.

“Now we just need to keep the momentum, we need to put the pressure on the teams ahead of us, we just need to go from game-to-game and know every game is a final for us.”
