Fabrizio Romano: Wolves are finalising details of deal to sign top talented player

Wolves are finalising details of deal to sign top talented player

According to reliable writer Fabrizio Romano, Wolves are currently finishing the specifics of a deal to sign one bright young midfielder who is on a rapid upward trajectory.

Gary O’Neil is congratulated for his good debut season at Wolves

Despite Saturday’s FA Cup defeat to Coventry City, the Old Gold have been quite successful this season under head coach Gary O’Neill, who was brought in to replace Julen Lopetegui last year.

Wolves finished 13th in the league last season, but they’re on track to improve and may even secure a European qualification berth – as O’Neil’s side competes with Brighton, West Ham, Newcastle, and possibly even Manchester United for a place in the Europa League as things stand.

Few could have predicted O’Neil’s outstanding performance, and some believe he is one of the league’s top managers this season.

“A new contract for O’Neil will be well deserved,” journalist Dean Jones told GiveMeSport recently.

“I believe the Manager of the Year award will go to whoever wins the title because there will be significant narratives surrounding it, whether Klopp, Guardiola, or Arteta lift the trophy. Aside from that, O’Neil has done an outstanding job and has well exceeded expectations.

“Wolves must offer him a new contract; else, he will be poached in no time. Fans argued they needed to get rid of him at the start of the season, but I imagine they’d be devastated if he went now.”

The 40-year-old was initially viewed as a step down from an elite, trophy-winning manager like Lopetegui, who has won championships at the top level and led clubs such as Real Madrid.

However, Wolves’ popular head coach has proven skeptics wrong in general, with some even placing O’Neil’s name in the running to lead England sooner rather than later.

The Midlands club will also be planning for the future under O’Neil, with rumors indicating that Wolves are eager to offer their boss a new deal and retain him for the foreseeable.

From transfers to Wolves’ entire structure, Jeff Shi and co. must do all possible to persuade O’Neil that he can develop a winning team in the next years.

Wolves Set To Sign Mane

Signing some of Europe’s most promising young players could influence O’Neil, with Romano reporting that Wolves are closing a deal to sign Matheus Mane.

The midfielder, who now plays for Rochdale in the non-league, is only 16 years old but has impressed enough to be called up to their academy.
