Three athletes will join the Pelicans……

The Pelicans secured the No. 8 seed in the West after navigating the Play-in round and face high flying Oklahoma.

Despite a defeat to the Lakers in the first round of the Play-in tournament, the New Orleans Pelicans got a second bite of the cherry with a match-up against Sacramento with the winners destined to face top seed in the West, OKC Thunder.

A 105-98 win for New Orleans confirmed their mantle as the ‘bogey side’ for Sacramento with the win securing postseason action for the Pelicans.

The bad news for fans of the team from Louisiana is the absence of Zion Williamson. The 23-year-old power forward suffered a left hamstring injury with about three minutes remaining in the match against the Lakers and missed the win over Sacramento and is expected to be out of action for at least the next two weeks which will force the Pelicans to take the challenge to high flying Oklahoma without their star player.

Williamson was highly impressive in the game against the Lakers, scoring 40 points and grabbing 11 rebounds but the player has seen injury hamper his progression as a player being forced to miss large swathes of his time in the NBA due to a series of injuries to his knee, hand, foot, and hamstring. This 2023-24 season was the first campaign where he managed to avoid serious injuries with the hamstring problem coming at an unfortunate time for the player and his Pelicans team.
