Thomas Tuchel admits he hasn’t used star in his best position

Chelsea fans are delighted with Thomas Tuchel so far, but if there was one thing they’re likely to complain about, it’s his use of Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Initially used as a wing back in Tuchel’s first few games, the winger was been squeezed out over time, and the addition of further attacking talent in the summer pushed him even deeper on the depth chart.

When he does play, he tends to be used on the right to accommodate Timo Werner on the left.

In yesterday’s game, it took two injuries to get CHO onto the pitch, and he was finally in his optimal left wing position.

The Metro had quotes from Tuchel after the game where he admitted that he knew he hadn’t been using his

“This is his best position, I know. Sometimes he needs to help as a right wing-back, so he needs to take it for the team,” the coach explained.

“But we know the half left position up front is his best position.”

It was never really in doubt that Tuchel didn’t know, it was just a matter of managing his squad.
