The reason why Sadio Mane sent boxes of chocolates and a picture of himself to 150 Liverpool staff after joining Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mane has sent boxes containing chocolates and a picture of himself to staff members at Liverpool after his departure following six successful years at the club.

The Senegalese speedster sent 150 boxes to his former club to show his appreciation to staff members from all sectors of the club, according to reports from Christian Falk.

The 30-year-old left Anfield for Bavaria this summer for £28.8million, and he hit the ground running at his new club after scoring in his first two games at the Bundesliga outfit.

Falk revealed Mane’s generous act on Twitter, writing: ‘Sadio Mané sends 150 packages to the employees of Liverpool.

‘From the cleaning lady to the security guard, everyone gets a chocolate with a portrait of Sadio and a handwritten card.’

Inside each card was written the club’s motto: ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone.’

In six trophy-laden seasons with the Reds, the Senegalese forward won almost every possible trophy, including a Premier League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and both the FA and Carabao Cups.

But after 269 games, 120 goals, and 49 assists, Mane moved to Munich and has already got stuck in with his new side.

After three games for the Bundesliga giants, Mane already has two goals and a German Super Cup, forming a potent attack alongside the likes of Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry, and Thomas Muller.

The player signed to fill the Mane-sized vacancy at Liverpool for £85million, Darwin Nunez, has also been quick to make an impact – but not always for the right reasons.

After coming on as a substitute in the Reds’ season opener with Fulham, he managed a goal and assist to rescue a disappointing 2-2 draw, before his Anfield debut against Crystal Palace on Monday.

However, his first start in front of the Kop was brought to an unceremoniously premature end after he headbutt Danish defender Joachim Andersen in the 57th minute, leaving him unavailable for next week’s trip to Old Trafford.
