Leicester City transfer talks are’very advanced,’ according to the player stance.

The latest Leicester City transfer news as Torino was keen to take the midfielder back last summer but was unable to reach an agreement with City.

Talks between Leicester City and Torino over a possible January transfer of Dennis Praet are at a ‘very advanced stage, according to reports in Italy.

The midfielder returned to City in the summer after spending last season on loan with Torino. The Serie A side was keen for the player to return to the club in the close season but was unable to agree on a deal with City.

It meant that the Belgian stayed at the King Power Stadium for the first half of the campaign. After talks with Brendan Rodgers in pre-season, the City manager revealed how Praet was keen to stay and fight for his place in the team.

The 28-year-old has played a total of nine times so far this season, including two starts in the Premier League. He also came on as an early substitute for James Maddison in the final game before the World Cup break.

But that wasn’t enough for the midfielder to be named in Roberto Martinez’s Belgium squad for the tournament this winter. Praet will instead stay in Leicester while teammates Youri Tielemans, Wout Faes, and Timothy Castagne take part in the tournament.

Despite the failure to reach an agreement with City in the summer, reports in Italy say that Torino is now reigniting their interest in Praet in January. According to Tuttosport (via Toro News ), talks have already opened between the two clubs and are at a ‘very advanced stage.

The Serie A club is said to be proposing a loan deal with an obligation to buy at the end of the season. It is though said that the price that Torino will pay will ‘not exceed’ €6-7 million (£5.2-6 million).

Football Italia also relays the report from Tuttosport, claiming that Praet ‘blames’ City for his absence from the Belgium squad due to his lack of game time this season. Therefore hinting that he would be keen to move back to Torino in January in order to increase his game time and earn his place back in his national side.

Praet will have 18 months remaining on his City deal when the transfer window re-opens in January. It means that the club will have to make a decision to make on his future either in the winter window or at the end of the season.
