According to reports, Liverpool is preparing to break its transfer record in January by signing a midfielder who

Leicester City is once again being linked with the Chelsea academy graduate ahead of January after ending the summer transfer window trying in vain to sign the same player

Leicester City reportedly has “other options” than just Atalanta winger Jérémie Boga after Premier League rivals Bournemouth joined them in “expressing interest” in the player who is said to be available on loan.

Boga, 25, is also being linked with clubs across Europe, including the likes of French club Marseille, Italian outfit Fiorentina and Spanish side Valencia. It has recently been claimed that the player, after spending the last four-and-a-half years in Italy playing for first Sassuolo before moving on to Bergamo, is keen to leave the country, which would seemingly rule out a switch to Florence.

Before arriving in Italy, Boga came through the Chelsea academy system, spending the best part of a decade on the books at Stamford Bridge. The Ivory Coast international only made a single appearance for the senior side, though – starting their opening match of the 2017/18 season against Burnley before being substituted by Antonio Conte just a quarter of an hour into his debut after Gary Cahill was shown a straight red card and Andreas Christensen came on as the defender’s replacement.

Therefore, after also spending the rest of that season on loan at Birmingham City and making more than 30 appearances in the Championship, a return to England may appeal as a chance to prove a point to the player’s former employers. The Daily Mail reports that Bournemouth has now “joined” City in making the interest in Boga known ahead of the January transfer window opening on New Year’s Day.

A winger is an attractive option as he is wide-known to be available on loan, but that is not to say there are no alternatives. Leicester is, indeed, said to have “other options” after previously failing with a deadline-day move for the player during the summer transfer window. Bournemouth, meanwhile, is also apparently “keen” on Villarreal’s Nicolas Jackson, who was part of the Senegal squad eliminated by England at the World Cup and has previously been linked with Aston Villa and reuniting with former head coach Unai Emery at Villa Park.
