Newcastle move 25-year-old to top of wishlist – Report

Newcastle will prioritize left-back this summer, with out-of-favor According to The Northern Echo, gunner Kieran Tierney is a top target. Oleksandr Zinchenko, who arrived in the Emirates last summer, has deposed the 25-year-old.

Tierney joined Arsenal from Celtic in the summer of 2019 to much fanfare. He spent the majority of his time at the club as a left-back. However, with Tierney suffering significant injuries in almost every season, Arsenal has had to rely on other options.

A knee injury that necessitated surgery last spring cut short his season as Arsenal fell out of contention for the Champions League. Over the summer, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta moved to bring in the dependable Zinchenko.

That has resulted in Tierney playing second fiddle for much of this campaign. Though, the marauding Scot has still managed 26 appearances this season. When fit, he is an excellent option on the left.

The player could be ready to move on from The Emirates in a bid for more regular starts. Newcastle has placed him on their summer wishlist though Arsenal would demand a sizeable fee of £25m.

Dan Burn has held down the left-back role for the bulk of the campaign after Matt Targett impressed last season. Neither are considered to be long-term options as Eddie Howe seeks a more attacking player for the position.

Tierney would fit the bill with his only major slight being his poor injury record. If Newcastle could talk down the price tag, adding Tierney could be excellent business as long as there is enough cover behind him.
