Wilfred Ndidi's return like new signing will propel Leicester CityLeicester City have a fresh injury concern after Wilfred Ndidi was substituted at Newcastle with a tight hamstring.

The City midfielder was replaced by Papy Mendy just a few minutes before full-time in the goalless draw at St James’ Park, having required treatment, and he may now be a doubt for City’s must-win Premier League finale against West Ham.

There is better news for the other City player who limped off at Newcastle, with cramp the issue for skipper Jonny Evans.

Beyond the duo, there were two players missing from the squad who had been expected to at least make the bench in the northeast, but Ricardo Pereira and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall were not deemed fit enough to play a part.

Ricardo made his comeback from a hamstring injury against Liverpool, but with the muscle tight again on the morning of the Newcastle fixture, he was taken out of the squad. Dewsbury-Hall, meanwhile, is still reporting pain in his ankle, and so has not trained.

“Jonny’s was cramped,” manager Dean Smith. “Wilf is more of a worry. I think he felt his hamstring. We’ll assess them over the next few days.

“Ricky just had a tight hamstring this morning so we pulled him out of the squad. Kiernan pulled out. He didn’t even get out onto the training ground. He felt it was too sore.”

The city is expected to have Caglar Soyuncu available again to face West Ham. He has now missed two matches with a hamstring complaint but is scheduled to be back in training ahead of the finale.

Danny Ward (dislocated finger), Jannik Vestergaard (calf), and James Justin (ineligible) will all be absent from the fixture too.
