Jack Grealish has revealed something about Manchester City.

Jack Grealish admits he feels ‘more freedom’ playing for England than for Manchester City

Jack Grealish has spoken of how much he enjoys playing for England but insists that shouldn’t be confused with not enjoying playing for Manchester City.

Jack Grealish has admitted that playing for England gives him far more freedom than playing for Manchester City, which he describes as “structured.”

Grealish joined Manchester City for £100 million last summer but has yet to shine as much as he would have liked for the Premier League champions.

In contrast, he provided a creative star turn from the bench for England in their 1-1 draw with Germany this week, as calls for Gareth Southgate to give him a bigger role for the Three Lions grew louder.

“That’s what the manager asked me to do – go on and be myself and try to create,” Grealish explained.

“When I’m here, I feel like I can play with as much freedom as possible.” That’s how I felt today.”

Reporters then asked Jack Grealish if he felt more at ease playing for England than at Manchester City, and his response was emphatic.

“I do believe that,” he admitted. “I feel like I played a bit safe at City at times, but when I come here, I feel like I train really well, score goals, get assists, and so on.”

“When I walk onto the pitch… it’s difficult to explain. I feel like I have a lot more freedom to play here, which I hope I can transfer to my club football and continue to improve.”

Despite his comments, Grealish made it clear that leaving Manchester City was the furthest thing from his mind right now, and he praised manager Pep Guardiola.

“I’ll talk to him (Guardiola) when I return next year, but I’m fine, honestly, I’m enjoying myself at City.”

“I love leaving here honestly, and as I’ve said many times, I think people are sometimes too harsh on the manager (Southgate).”

“I feel like, for example, last game, we lose the first game in I don’t know how long, a bit of palaver, and it’s like we’ve lost a game, it happens.” You are aware.

“And one thing I can say is that when we leave here, everyone – from the staff to the players – loves it.”

“We all get along like a family, and I think that’s why we’ve been so successful in tournaments over the last few years and even before I joined the squad.”
