The Belgium international has been the subject of interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal all summer and is now said to be on Manchester United’s ‘shortlist’
Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans is reportedly ‘of interest’ to Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag amid negotiations with Barcelona over signing Frenkie de Jong.
Man United have been relentlessly rumoured with adding to their options in midfield this summer, but are yet to make a signing since Ten Hag started work at Old Trafford. De Jong, who worked with the manager at Ajax before leaving for Catalonia, and Brentford free-agent-to-be Christian Eriksen are both apparently the subject of offers from Man Utd.
City have similarly been linked with Eriksen and the Denmark international is apparently “mulling over” a contract offer from the King Power Stadium side. Following those reports, another name that has been said to be on Ten Hag’s ‘shortlist’ has emerged.
The Times report that Tielemans is ‘another midfielder’ that ‘is of interest’ to the Man United manager. It is though added that it is ‘unclear how highly’ the City playmaker features on such ‘shortlist’.
The Belgium international has one year remaining on his current contract at the King Power Stadium and has been the subject of interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal throughout this summer transfer window. Tielemans’ future remains up in the air and it is still categorised as 50-50 as to whether the player will stay or go this summer, according to LeicestershireLive’s Jordan Blackwell in a recent Q&A.
Tielemans was not at Seagrave on Monday after only finishing international duty earlier this month. He will be one with a staggered arrival date over the next few weeks.
