Tottenham is ready to ignore wage structure and accept terms with player, according to sources.

Tottenham is willing to ignore wage structure and agree to a ‘massive’ Son Heung-min deal, according to sources.
Heung-min Son is happy to stay at Tottenham, according to insiders, as the club prepares to offer him a lucrative new contract.

The 31-year-old is overjoyed with the influence of new boss Ange and eager to be a part of the project he is putting in place.
It is expected that they would first trigger the one-year extension clause in his present contract, extending it until June 2026.

However, a reliable source has told Football Insider that Tottenham might still hold talks with Son over a fully new long-term contract.

Any such arrangement would almost certainly involve a pay increase to reflect his new position as club captain, and it would be “huge.” it is said.

This is despite Tottenham’s stringent wage structure, where Son already earns the most of any senior player.

The South Korean foreigner is currently earning £190,000 a week in North London.

Following Harry Kane’s departure to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, Son is now regarded as Spurs’ top man.

The 31-year-old has started the previous two Premier League games in a central-forward role, scoring a hat-trick against promoted Burnley earlier this month (2 September).

He has been at Spurs since 2015, when he joined from Bayer Leverkusen for an estimated £22 million, netting 148 goals in 378 games.

The forward’s best season in English league football came in 2021-22, when he scored 23 goals and had nine assists in 35 games, winning the Golden Boot.
